RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) has brought significant benefits to major retailers such as Macy’s, Walmart and JC Penny’s. Each has seen bottom line improvements from item-level RFID. RFID efforts across the Department of Defense are showing promise as well. When combined with CPFR (Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment), trading partners across the supply chain are benefiting from matching demands to production and eliminating waste. CPFR success stories even include efforts across the Defense Logistics Agency including the KC-135 SLEP. (listen to an interview about the KC-135 an CPFR here.)
