Steve Brady and Pete Swan - Peter Swan and Highway Privatization
Submitted by Steve Brady on Mon, 2008-02-04 21:49.We chat with Dr Peter Swan from Penn State University, in Harrisburg. His recent study (with Michael Belzer of Wayne State University) found that increased privatization of highways may increase the traffic on what are perceived to be free roads (of course, they carry costs--just not directly billed.)
According to a Penn State press release:
The number of diverted trucks is important to both the State of Ohio and the nation for economic and social reasons.

Taking Business to the Moon
Submitted by Steve Brady on Sat, 2006-12-16 08:46.Private Industry goes to the moon!
In this episode, I talk with Tom Taylor about his company, Lunar Transportation Systems. He shares with us some of his experiences in remote locations with extreme environments that he believes provide valuable experience by analogy to operations on the Moon. In addition, he shares with us why he believes there is a business case for going to the moon, and how it need not just be NASA.
Helium-3. Who knew?
If you find this concept of "space logistics" interesting, please, join us for discussions in the forums. And keep checking, because I have more interviews planned with people actively engaged in Space Logistics, including hopefully an interview with Dr DeWeck from MIT!
