Supply Chain Innovations Today is providing the Supply Chain and Logistics Workshops for the Southern Alleghenies Workforce Investment Board’s Jobs 1st Training Program.

To meet the constantly changing and demanding competitive forces in today’s global markets businesses must not only master the basics of marketing and financial management, but learn how to manage their supply chain operations, including inventory management and warehouse operations. A strong training program will provide the necessary background and tools to enable firms to manage their inventory, their relationships with their customers and suppliers, and meet customers’ demands while maintaining a profitable operation. This program will help small and medium-sized businesses in the Alleghenies become more competitive on a global scale through the reduction in operating costs associated with supply chain management.

This 2 day workshop will include:

  • An overview of supply chain management; definitions, relationship to business outcomes, and best practices
  • An understanding of key concepts and principles of supply chain management; forecasting, inventory, transportation, lead-time, metrics, and collaboration, demand planning
  • An overview of cycle counting techniques; ABC analysis, physical/100% counts vs cycle counting strategies, reasons for cycle counts, and categorizing inventory for efficiencies
  • Introduction to technological methods of inventory management and inventory; barcoding and RFID, technology and impact on inventory accuracy
  • Performance measurement; value of metrics, goal determination, leading/lagging indicators, “Good” vs “Bad” metrics
  • Techniques for enhancing warehouse efficiencies; facility layout, technology, flow, control of access

NOTE: Attendees must be employees of and sponsored by a business located in Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon or Somerset Counties.
